Make the Most of Summer in the City

05/20/2021

The sun is shining, the grass is growing and the Phils are back at the stadium—summer in the city is finally almost here! Even if you want to be a bit more cautious and a bit less social this summer, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy all that Philly has to offer in the summer. From thirst-quenching water ice to the area’s best summer apparel shops to mouthwatering margaritas, you can find lots of great ways to cool down, chill out and soak up the sun right near your Crane Chinatown apartment.

One way to welcome summer is at Silk City. The restaurant and beer garden recently reopened after a winter closure due to the pandemic. When it reopened, Silk City debuted a new spring menu—so if you’ve never been, now’s a great time for a visit. And it’s only a half-mile from your Chestnut Square apartment!

Silk City is a quirky, diner-style venue but also offers an expansive outdoor garden, making it a great space for those who want to practice social distancing and take advantage of the warmer weather to dine outdoors. The retooled menu stays true to Silk City’s diner vibe but with lots of new flavors and a boatload of new options for vegetarians and vegans, including hummus, grain bowls and seitan wings and the Impossible Burger. On the wider menu, enjoy everything from organic fried chicken to glazed salmon to soups, salads and sandwiches. Silk City is also open for brunch from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Pair either your brunch or dinner with selections from Silk City’s extensive bar menu—featuring seasonal cocktails (which you can also grab to go!) and plenty of locally made brews and wines.

This summer, throw on the shades, break out the flip flops and get ready to enjoy the soak in summer fun in the city.
