01/18/2022

Sure we may be known for our cheesesteaks in Philly but that doesn’t mean we aren’t completely obsessed with brunch.

That’s right, every Saturday and Sunday morning Philly is serving up some of the most unique, flavorful brunches in the Tri-State Area. Here are three of the best brunch spots to try located near Crane Chinatown.

Askum

Serving up a vibrant and diverse menu featuring a bright Mediterranean menu that focuses on simple and fresh ingredients with flavors from Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, Askum is proudly black owned and has been serving up their award winning weekend brunch for years.

At Askum you can try Green Eggs and Ham with bearnaise sauce, Moroccan Chicken and Waffles with warm syrup and powdered sugar, and a double stack of Blueberry Lemon Pancakes.

If you’re looking for the best brunch in Philly, this simply must be on your list!

Ants Pants Cafe

Childhood friends Liz Fleming and Nancy Silverman had both worked for many years in Philadelphia’s cafes before immersing themselves in the Sydney, Australia cafe culture. Now the two have opened their own cafe in the Graduate Hospital neighborhood of the city, offering an experience, according to their website ,that was long overdue.

Today Ants Pants Cafe is serving up one of the best brunches in town with dishes like The Stack, “sourdough bread topped with bacon, tomato, arugula, sunny eggs & freshly grated pecorino romano & chip fries,” or The Scramble, “3 eggs w/ provolone, roasted red peppers, red onions, Italian sausage, spinach & sweet chili sauce w/ chip fries.”

Green Egg Cafe

Speaking of green eggs, Philadelphia’s own Green Egg Cafe is one of the city’s favorites. Serving weekly specials like Peanut Butter Banana Egg Rolls and Peppermint Mocha Latte, Green Egg takes breakfast to a creative level.

Other dishes to try are Chicken and waffles Benedict, Fried Oreo French Toast and for those who enjoy a food challenge, The Kitchen Sink, “Three eggs scrambled with sausage crumbles, gruyere cheese, potatoes, peppers, onions, topped with sausage gravy, jumbo biscuit, in a cast iron skillet.”
